As an avid You Tube viewer I got the idea for doing a Project Pan series from Youtuber Ashley Elizabeth. The aim of Project Pan is to use up some of the makeup and beauty items that are sitting in your collection gathering dust…and boy do I have loads of those! As using items up is a relatively unheard of concept for me this should be an interesting challenge! I have set myself a limit of 12 items to use up in the next 2 months. So from left to right in the above product photo, here goes…
– Smashbox Photofinish Hydrating Under Eye Primer (£21.00 for 10ml). This primer is supposed to stop concealer from creasing and keep it looking fresh. With my wrinkly creasy under eyes I had high hopes for this however I was not blown away and have since found cheaper eye creams that are more effective. Still, it needs using up considering how much it cost! There’s about half the tube left.
– Dior Addict Ultra Gloss in the shade 256, Glow. (£22.00). I can’t seem to find this shade online so it may have been discontinued. This lipgloss was a gift from my mum (hi mum!) and when I used to use more sheer glosses on a daily basis I loved this. I now favour stronger lipsticks so never reach for this. I feel that this colour is work-appropriate and I should easily get it finished off as there’s not an awful lot left.
– Zara Rose eau de toilette (£7.99 for 50ml). I love fragrances and this one is no exception. I like to keep perfumes and eau de toilettes in their original boxes to keep them out of the light and to keep them fresher for longer, but I seem to have misplaced the box for this one…therefore it has to go! I love the smell of this…it’s rose without being overpowering and is fresh and muted enough to be able to wear for work. I think I will easily use this within the next 2 months as there’s only about 1/4 of the bottle left.
– Aussie Miracle Colour Insurance Leave-in Conditioner. (£4.69 for 250ml). This has been hanging around in my box of hair products for so long. I used to use this every time I washed my hair and repurchased it many times…then for some reason I stopped. It’s nearly 3/4 full and really needs using up. Maybe my love for this will be rekindled…let’s see!
– REN Glycolactic Radiance Renewal Mask (£32 for 50ml). I love this product so much. The smell, the texture, the way it makes my skin feel after I have used it…I actually cannot fault it. I stopped using it when I started using a daily BHA liquid exfoliant as there was no longer a place for it in my skincare regime. I am going to try and use it once a week and whatever product is left (which will probably be quite a lot) I will pass on to my mum (hi again mum!) as I know she will enjoy this too.
– Rituals Fortune Scrub organic mandarin and yuzu invigorating body scrub (£10.00 for 150ml). I received this in my You Beauty Discovery 2014 advent calendar. The smell is lovely and as it’s slightly oily it feels nice on your skin after you wash it off. I just don’t find myself reaching for body scrubs as they are messy and the grit gets into places it really shouldn’t! I think if I use this a couple of times a week I can get it finished in 2 months…hopefully…if I remember!
– No7 Beautifully Matte Makeup Base (£10.50 for 40ml). I am a bit on the fence about this product. I seem to recall that it makes my foundation sit very noticeably in my creases/fine lines although I also think that it mattifies quite well. It will be interesting revisiting this product. With about half of it left if I use it every day I am at work (when I need the most help with managing shine) I think I should be able to use it up.
– Batiste Dry Shampoo in the fragrance cherry (£2.99 for 200ml). I love dry shampoo and this is one of my favourite brands and fragrances. However I have so many dry shampoos that I am not reaching for this one at all…and there’s 3/4 of the can left. I wash my hair every 3 days (in the evening) and I need to get this used up on my day 2 and day 3 hair to keep it fresh.
– Kerastase Cristalliste Luminous Perfecting Conditioner (£18.50 for 200ml). I recently received this in a subscription box (My Little Box) and I really don’t like it…I cannot quite believe how much the full-sized product actually costs! I need to get it used up and gone…which judging by the amount you need to put on your hair should be in 2-3 uses.
– Soap and Glory Thick & Fast High Definition Collagen-Coat mascara (the gold tube – £10.50 for 10ml). This is a nice mascara that I have just stopped using in favour of the new kids on the block! Whatever is left at the end of 2 months will be thrown away as it’s possibly way past its use-by date.
– Collection Illuminating Touch Brightening Concealer in the shade natural 2 (£4.99 for 2.5g). I bought this ages ago to compare with the high end Touche Eclat and I have only used it once. I don’t remember what it wears like so it will be interesting to try it again over an extended period. It is nearly full so I will have my work cut out for me with this one…extreme highlighting here I come!
– Soap and Glory Thick & Fast super volume mascara (the black tube – £10 for 10ml). There’s also nothing really wrong with this mascara. The brush is way too big and bristly for my liking, which is why I probably stopped reaching for it, but the actual mascara is good. I think I can easily use it up in the next 2 months. As with the previous mascara it will then be thrown away for hygiene reasons.
Let me know if you are trying to use up any of your beauty/makeup products and how that is going for you. I will see you in a month’s time for a progress report…wish me luck!
