Decluttering The Blusher Drawer!

I love blush.  I wear it every day…and sometimes yes I do wear a bit too much (the perils of getting ready without natural lighting!).  As I prowl the drug store picking up new products on a regular basis I have ‘suddenly’ found that I am a little overrun with blushes.  I seem to have loads of creme and liquid blushes and shimmery products and I never find myself reaching for any of them…so some of them have to go!  As I was gathering my blushes to list in this post I found them tumbling out of various drawers and makeup storage areas…I have way way way more than I need!  I have been inspired to declutter my collection by some of my favourite Youtubers…so as much as it pains me, here goes…

Creme Products

I don’t have many creme blushes, but more than I need as I rarely find myself reaching for them. I find that creme blushes interfere with my foundation making it patchy and I find it sits in my fine lines ageing me somewhat. Creme blushes are perfect if you want a flush of colour and you are not wearing foundation…a state I very rarely find myself in!

Products: Maybelline Dream Touch Blush x2 (02 & 07), Revlon Photoready creme blush x2 (Coral Reef and Flushed), MUA Blush Perfection Cream Blusher (Bittersweet), Bourjois Cream Blush (Nude Velvet), Boots No7 Pop & Glow Cream Blush x2 (Classic Rose & Mango Sorbet), Bellapierre Cosmetics Cheek & Lip Stain (Coral).

Liquid Products

I have tried to use liquid blush products since discovering Benetint many moons ago, with minimal success. I find the tints apply in a splodgy way to my cheeks leaving patches of stain that I am unable to blend in. I have had more success with the fluid blushers…I tend to drop these on the back of my hand (as they do not stain) and apply with a stippling blush to ensure they blend well.

Products: Makeup Revolution The One Fluid Blusher x4 (Pink Dew, Pink Sea, Desire & Rush Me), Benefit Lip & Cheek Stains (Lollitint & Benetint), Makeup Revolution Vivid Blush Lacquer (O’Boy),

I love powder blushes and I find myself reaching for these on a daily basis. I tend to wear a different blush each day and rotate my collection so that not too many of my products stay feeling unloved.  I’ll be honest, most of these will stay! 🙂

ProductsMilani Powder Blush x2 (Tea Rose & Coral Cove), NYX Blush x2 (Angel & Taupe), Sleek Makeup Blush x3 (Pixie Pink, Life’s a Peach & Rose Gold), Makeup Revolution Blush (Wow), MUA Mosaic Blush (English Rose), Beauty UK Blush & Brush (Rustic Peach), Benefit Box O’ Powder x2 (Bella Bamba & Dandelion), I Heart Makeup Blushing Hearts x2 (Blushing Heart & Bursting with Love), Collection Shimmer Shades (Blushalicious).

I love love love palettes, and Makeup Revolution blush palettes are just spectacular. I reach for these time and time again and enjoy the fact that they have highlight and bronzing shades mixed in with them to meet all of my cheek shading and colouring needs! These palettes are not going anywhere! 🙂

Stand-Out Blushes

I really enjoy all of the Makeup Revolution palettes, which is why they are all staying, with Hot Spice and All About Pink being my stand-out go-to favourites. The Benefit boxes are also fabulous with Dandelion being a day-to-day face-brightening staple in my collection. The Sleek blush in Rose Gold is a **DUPE** for Nars Orgasm at a fraction of the price, and dare I say actually better than the real thing…and the Makeup Revolution fluid blusher is a **DUPE** for the Daniel Sandler watercolour fluid blusher. Milani Tea Rose is so pigmented and will truly last me forever, NYX Taupe blusher is perfect for a natural-looking contour for lighter skins like mine and the Maybelline Dream Touch cream blush was a surprise hit for me, perfect for day-to-day wear.

Decluttering/Passing On

I am getting rid of 13 items from my blush collection, which is quite a miracle. They will not go to waste though as they will be given out to friends/family on a first come first served basis (send me your requests peeps)!

    • The Milani powder blushes are really long lasting. 🙂 I bought mine from Amazon as they don’t sell them in shops in the UK.:-)

    • I haven’t tried many blushes from The Balm so can’t really comment. Love their eyeshadow palettes though. 🙂
