KIKO Milano has arrived in Leeds and I was so excited that I hot-footed it there with my sister for a spending frenzy…and spend I did! I’m all about internet shopping but with an untried brand there is nothing better than swatching and smelling the products first hand. At the checkout I signed up to the KIKO rewards card and got 30% off my first purchase…had I known I would have bought extra! 😉 KIKO looks like a high end brand but with drug store prices. I bought a selection of items to try…so let’s have a look…
This baked eyeshadow quad contains such lovely pigmented shimmery, mildly glittery colours that are reminiscent of the Tom Ford and Charlotte Tilbury quads. On applying it to the brush the shadow appears quite crumbly and I was dreading it falling all over my face, however I was pleasantly surprised. They applied and blended so well. I was able to create a full eye look using all 4 colours. The tiny bit that fell on my face was easily brushed away without a problem. The shadow didn’t crease (I wore it for 7 hours) and the colours complimented each other just perfectly. A total winner for me! 🙂
I had high hopes for this as a lovely balmy moisturising tint that I was planning on wearing for work, however my excitement was short-lived. This product does not provide any moisturisation and stains any dry patches on your lips (I actually got asked if I had a cold sore…yes it was that bad!). I had to apply approximately every hour and the more I applied the worse the staining got. My lips felt bone dry even though this gloss is greasy. The whole experience was just awful. A total miss for me I am afraid. In the bin it goes! 😦
I am all about the liquid eyeliner and have high standards when it comes to application, formula and wear. This eyeliner reminds me of the Urban Decay liquid eyeliners, although at a fraction of the cost and dare I say it…actually a better product that the UD ones! I wore this all day yesterday…it applied really smoothly, dried quickly and with a demi matte finish and most importantly for me, it didn’t crumble or flake off. The colour is lovely and they have a great selection. A definite hit for me and I will be buying this in more colours. 🙂
I am going to get right to the point with this…It is a total miss for me, which made me sad as this was another product I had lined up for wearing at work. Despite the name, this product is not glossy, balmy or moisturising. It applies via a rollerball and smells nice but feels like water. Within minutes it’s like you have not put anything on your lips…the formula is just awful. Another one for the bin. 😦
I really love this fragrance! This rollerball perfume is perfect to throw in my handbag and it has a lovely long-lasting summery smell! It is exactly what I wanted and I will be repurchasing once it runs out. 🙂
Coloured mascara is brilliant and the shade range KIKO offers is fabulous, however I am sad to report that it is all downhill from there. The bristle wand is of average size, nothing spectacular, the colour on the brush looks really nice but the formula and colour pay off is just awful. Now I don’t know if I just got a bad one but when I took the wand out of the tube it looked like an old dry mascara that is ready for the bin. I used it on my bottom lashes and 7 coats later I still couldn’t really see any colour on them. It’s a miss miss miss from me. 😦
I have nothing bad to say about this lip liner. It’s inexpensive and matches a lot of my orangey/red lipsticks perfectly. It applies smoohly, sharpens easily…I will definitely get more of these! It’s a hit! 🙂
This lipstick is matte, long-wearing and the colour range is lovely. It applies really smoothly and creamily and I had high hopes for this however I was once again disappointed. There seems to be a bit of a theme with the KIKO lip products I have tried. Once applied it dried down and set on my lips…after 5 minutes I looked in the mirror as my lips were feeling uncomfortably tight…and I was alarmed to see that I had a severe case of prune lip! I dotted a bit of lip balm over the top and although this made it feel less dry on the top, my prune lips remained! I had to remove it in the end as there was no way I could have been seen in public looking like this! If you like this type of formula then have a go as the lipstick does not budge but it’s another miss for me I am afraid! 😦
This ultra-pigmented cream-to-powder eyeshadow stays true to colour all day and does not crease. It dries rapidly however so you have to work with it at high speed…but it’s perfect for a hot day or for days where you have to get ready quickly as you can apply it as a single colour wash and it looks quite striking. I will be getting more of these…a hit! 🙂
I love this so much despite the bulky makeup-bag/handbag unfriendly packaging! The colour is lovely, a nice mix of pink and orange tones and the colour lasts ALL DAY! It looks as good at the end of the day as when I first applied it. Working in a hot hospital this has well and truly been put to the test…and it passed with flying colours! I want to try the other colours in this range. It’s a hit hit hit! 🙂
Some hits and misses there from KIKO Milano but I will definitely be going back to try more as the hits were impressive, and matched if not surpassed some high end products. The staff in the store were very helpful too and plenty of time and space was given to us whilst we swatched our way around the displays.
Let me know if you have tried anything from KIKO Milano and what you think about it. Is there anything that I NEED to put on my shopping list!
