Project Pan: the finale!

Two months ago I set myself the challenge of using up 12 makeup and beauty products that had been hanging around in my collection for far too long. I have tried my hardest to achieve this goal and here are the results…

Products I have finished:

DSC00899 - Copy

Rituals Fortune Scrub Organic Mandarin and Yuzu Invigorating Body Scrub – This took nearly the full 2 months to use up. I love the smell and it made my skin feel soft due to the slightly oily but nice residue it left on my skin. I really like Rituals products and this one was no exception.

Kerastase Cristalliste Luminous Perfecting Conditioner – It’s gone…yippeeee! This is so not worth the money and I do not understand the hype. Three uses and this delux sample was finished, never to darken my door ever again! Yey!

Zara Rose eau de Toilette – I really really like this perfume. So much so that I want to repurchase it…but I can’t as I have 5 other fragrances to use up…but I want this one too…! I am not a lover of rose fragrances as I find them a bit ‘old lady’ smelling, but this is an exception to the rule. It’s fresh, fruity and inoffensive to most…I’m going to get some more!

Dior Addict Ultra Gloss in the shade 256, Glow – This is a lovely lip gloss, sheer and non-sticky which is great for every-day wear. I will not repurchase purely because I do not find myself reaching for lip glosses at the moment but I enjoyed using this up.

Smashbox Photofinish Hydrating Under Eye Primer – I have rekindled my love for this, so much so that I have actually just bought another one! It stops my concealer from creasing and hydrates my dry under eyes…I love it!

Soap and Glory Thick & Fast Super Volume Mascara (the black tube) – I just can’t get to grips with this mascara. The bristle brush is nearly as big as my head and every time I used it I got it all over my eye lids and face as the brush is huge and the formula is so wet. I hated every moment of trying to use this up…ugh…goodbye clumpy lashes!

Soap and Glory Thick & Fast High Definition Collagen-Coat mascara (the gold tube) – In stark contrast to the previous mascara this one is really really nice! It applies evenly and gives volume and length, no clumps, no smearing and the bristle brush is longer on one side and shorter on the other allowing a precise application. Definitely on my list of mascaras to repurchase…if I ever run out of mascara that is!

Products I didn’t finish:

Aussie Miracle Colour Insurance Leave-in Conditioner – I am trying sooooo hard to finish this up…but I am not even a quarter of the way through. I don’t feel that it does anything dramatically different to my hair so I am going to pass this on. It’s not a bad product at all, just not for me and my fine hair texture.

No7 Beautifully Matte Makeup Base – I have realised why I have never used up this product. It sits like a mask on your face and foundation applies just awfully over the top of it sitting in all of your fine lines which are somehow accentuated by this primer. I kept the tube purely to photograph it. Destination = the bin!

REN Glycolactic Radiance Renewal Mask – I keep forgetting to use this although I really do love this product. I am going to pass it on to my mum though as promised in my original Project Pan post (hi mum!) as I know she will love it and it will be perfect for her skin type.

Batiste Dry Shampoo in the fragrance Cherry – I use this once a week so in reality I was never going to use this up in 2 months. I like Batiste and now that I have refined my application technique I am avoiding the white sheen it can give to your hair. I will keep this out and use it up.

Collection Illuminating Touch Brightening Concealer in the shade natural 2 – This has been a bit of a surprise product as I never really thought I would like it. The shade is too dark for under eye brightening as I have pale skin, but I use it on the rest of my face to conceal skin discolouration, red patches and spots and it has worked really well! I feel that I might need to buy the lighter shade and try it under my eyes. No more touche eclat for me…I think this is a more than adequate replacement!

So that is this Project Pan over and done with for now! Phew! I can’t say it has helped me to spend less, but it has encouraged me to look through my existing collection a bit more. Let me know what products have you been trying to use up lately and if there is anything that you have rediscovered in your collection.

  1. This is defo something I need to do but mainly with beauty box samples. I have LOADS in several big boxes lol. The one thing I always finish is my Philip Kingsley body building shampoo and conditioner…they’re well worth the inflated price tag. Great post xx
