Clinique Re-discovered

I have occasionally dabbled with the Clinique makeup and skincare lines, however there has always been something about the brand that has made me think it’s for people older than me. Maybe the old-school green packaging from days of yore (which is still embedded in my mind) and the unsexiness of the brand (in my mind anyway) has just never let me consider it as something I should use. Clinique has come a long way since the days of that awful green packaging, in fact it looks quite trendy now! When The British Beauty Blogger advertised that she was collaborating with Clinique to produce a limited-edition beauty box I just had to get my hands on it! What a perfect way to rediscover this brand and see what it has to offer me.Β Unfortunately the actual box is sold out, but all of the products are available for sale individually. πŸ™‚

Chubby Stick Moisturising Lip Colour (Plumped Up Pink – full size):

I’ve heard a lot about the Chubby Sticks so I really looked forward to trying it. Now I am a girl who loves a bold lip with bright pigmented opaque colours, so of course I was always going to be a bit disappointed with this. It gives a sheer wash of colour, nothing spectacular and I’m not actually sure what all the fuss is about with them if I am truly honest.Β I found that it dried my lips and the colour started staining the dryer bits of my lips making it look really awful as the day went on. I have already passed this on to my sister who seems to love it.

Moisture Surge Extended Thirst Relief (sample size):

This cream/gel formula was a surprising hit for me…so much so that Β am considering purchasing it with the Β£10 off voucher included in the box. My skin might have an oily T but it is dehydrated and this worked an absolute treat to help improve that and to minimise the shine surprisingly. There’s no SPF so make sure you are still applying that if you go out of the house. Highly recommended for all skin types.

Take the Day Off Makeup Remover for Lids, Lashes and Lips (sample size):

I don’t really use eye makeup remover however I am interested in the lipstick-removing claims this product has. I like using highly-pigmented lipsticks that often leave a stain behind even when removed with cleansing oil. I haven’t tried this yet but it will be used the next time I end up with stained lips.

Liquid Facial Soap (sample size):

I tend to use a face wash as a double cleanse after using cleansing oil to remove my makeup. This is nice and non-drying which is always a bonus. I like it and it will definitely get used up, but it’s not life-changing.

Clinique Happy Fragrance (sample size):

This is a really nice fragranceΒ and a re-discovery for me. It has a nice fresh florally smell. It’s not that long-lasting but is great for day time and when you don’t want to be overpowered by a strong fragrance. I spritz a little in my hair which helps the scent to linger longer.

High Impact Mascara (Black – full size):

I have heard great things about this mascara so I was excited to try it! I have only used it a couple of times and so far it seems really nice and volumising. It’s a great day-to-day mascara and will get used up for sure.

Dramatically Different Moisturising Lotion +:

This moisturiser is for dry skin. Mine is more oily/combination but I thought I would give this a try. I actually really liked this moisturiser! It’s non-greasy, soaks into your skin well and is particularly good for night time when my skin is dehydrated and in need of some added moisture. I have noticed that they do a gel formulation of this for oily/combination skin so I might check this out too.

Considering that this box contained 2 full-sized products it was totally worth the money. As part of this box I received a Β£10 voucher off a Β£40 online spend. I think I will be getting the full-sized moisture surgeΒ as it really helped my dehydrated skin. It was nice to re-visit Clinique and they offer some really great products and I found a new product that really seems to help my skin. Overall it’s a hit from me!

  2. Be careful with moisture surge range, I used to love it as it gives you that instant relief, but it’s full of really heavy silicones to give you that illusion. I stopped using it after it broke me out (in hot climate) and it was the 1st time it happened to me. Since then I learned the difference between illusion skincare and a real one.
The dramatically different cream is formulated with mineral oil, but the gel isn’t so ingredients wise is much better.

    • Now I feel sad as it felt so nice. 😦 I will try the yellow gel instead. I did wonder why my face had suddenly become dramatically less oily! Lol!

      • Go for a mask instead. It will give you that plumpness (esp.before going out) but just treat it as a part of make up not skincare. Or use the moisturizer as a primer.

      • I use a fab overnight mask from Garnier and have been really happy with the results so yes that’s a great tip. I’ve also been using hydrating primers (as opposed to the silicon ones) and have been loving them. πŸ™‚
