So I popped into Tesco recently for milk, or bread, or something equally as straight forward and easy to find. Why I stepped into the beauty section I will never know! 😉 OK, I think maybe you know me well enough by now to know exactly WHY I stepped into the beauty section…and here is what jumped into my basket as I walked innocently through…
Garnier Intensive 7 days Ultra-Replenishing Lotion (400ml) & Garnier Micellar Cleansing Water (125ml): This non-sticky fresh-smelling lotion applies well and sinks into the skin quickly. I felt that my skin was moisturised until I showered, not unlike other lotions I have used. As for its 7-day claim, I am not convinced…but I will definitely buy it again. I haven’t tried the micellar water yet. I don’t use micellar water regularly however it is always good to have around for use in an emergency, when it is not possible to wash my makeup off!
Korres Wild Rose 24-hour Moisturising & Brightening Cream for Oily/Combination Skin (40ml) & Korres Guava Lip Butter (6g): I love both of these and they have already made it into my regular skincare rotation. The moisturiser is great for day AND night (no SPF so apply sunscreen) and the rose smell is not overpowering. The lip butter is great for night time use. I find that it leaves a white sheen so it doesn’t make the cut for daytime use for me. I definitely want to try more products from Korres!
Miss Patisserie Rose Geranium Conditioning Lip Balm for Lips, Cuticles & Dry Skin: This is an OK lip product. The rose fragrance is a bit too full-on for me and it slides quickly off my lips after application. I have yet to try it as a skin balm but I can see this product working well as a cuticle conditioner. What I like about this brand is that it is all hand-made using natural ingredients and is not tested on animals. They do some super cute looking hand-made bath bombs too that I really want to try!
SteamCream Moisturiser for Face, Body & Hands (75ml): This combination face, body and hand moisturiser is light, fresh and sinks into the skin well leaving it feeling soft and nourished. What I like about this brand is that it uses many natural ingredients and it also keeps the levels of other ‘technical’ ingredients to a minimum. The company is totally open about the ingredients it uses with a detailed list and explanation of each one on their website. The tins are super cute too with many different designs to choose from!
Barry M Chisel Cheeks Contour Kit (7.5g) & Barry M Nail Paint Corrector Pen, acetone free: I haven’t tried the contour kit yet, but it looked just like the Smashbox version for a fraction of the price…so I could’t say no! The corrector pen is an absolute dream to use. It has spare tips and tidies up your nails so easily that I have already bought a back up!
Max Factor Facefinity All-Day Primer with SPF20 (30ml) & Max Factor Wild Shadow Pencil in the shade 05: I have been getting into creamier primers recently and this one jumped off the shelf into my basket…honestly it did! There is nothing wrong with this primer, it’s OK. I have had better and I have also had worse. The wild shadow pencil is currently fueling my addiction for cream shadows. It applies and blends well and stays on all day even in a hot environment…I definitely cannot fault it!
Bourjois Healthy Balance Unifying Powder in the shade 52/Vanille (9g), Bourjois So Laque Ultra Shine 7-Day Nail Polish (10ml) & Bourjois Colourband Waterproof Eyeshadow and Liner in the shade 04/Rose Fauviste: The powder is great for touching up my t-zone, although it is a bit too mattifying and ‘flat’ for full-face use for my liking. The nailpolish does not get my vote. It is supposed to last for up to 7 days, however after 24 hours it had started to peel off in chunks, despite being topped by Seche Vite top coat! The cream eyeshadow does everything I want it to…it applies easily, blends well and lasts all day. I will definitely try more of them.
Natio Ageless Advanced Lifting & Firming Serum (30ml) & Natio Ageless Daily Mousturiser with SPF 30+: The serum is OK. It dries to quite a tacky finish and there is no way I would try to apply foundation straight over the top of it. I am also not convinced that there is any lifting or firming action happening. The moisturiser however is just BRILLIANT! I have just posted a review on my blog about it…check it out here! This is another company that works hard to provide products with more natural ingredients. I definitely want to try more from them!
Eylure Brow Crayon in the shade 10/dark brown & Eylure Brow Pencil in the shade 10/dark brown: The Eylure stand was impressive with far more than false lashes for sale. I picked up these two gems to fuel my obsession for brow products and I was not disappointed. The dark brown colour has a cool-toned ashy finish (I hate red-toned browns) and both the crayon and the pencil apply easily with a natural look and last all day. I feel a brow post coming on soon as I have so much to share!
Hope you enjoyed this haul! Until next time…
