August came and went in a flash! So much so that before I realised it was September and I hadn’t even thought about my monthly favourites. So here it is, albeit a little late! Enjoy…
– Urban Decay Naked Concealer in the shade ‘fair/neutral’. When I first used this I really didn’t like it and it was consigned to my eBay selling pile. When I gave it a second try I realised that I truly love this concealer as it covers really well, it’s light and it doesn’t sit in my lines and creases (providing that my under eyes are moisturised and well-primed).
– NARS Satin Lip Pencil in the shade ‘Yu’. I love the staying power of this little beauty. It lasts through eating and drinking. Sometimes an oil doesn’t even fully remove it, which pleases me immeasurably. 🙂 The colour is rich and pigmented and it’s easy to apply without a lip liner required.
– The Body Shop Drops of Youth Wonderblur foundation primer. It does what it says on the tin. A silicon primer which holds your foundation and smoothes your face out…what more can a girl want? OK it doesn’t give you the most natural finish but if you want to look ‘made up’ (my look of choice) then this works perfectly. It’s comparable to Benefit’s Porefessional and as Body Shop have great online sales it can be picked up much cheaper.
– No7 Protect & Perfect Intense Advanced serum. This is a new formulation of an oldie but a goodie. It’s a great serum, I use it every day under my moisturiser. No matter how many serums I try I always go back to this one. Their new 50ml tubes are great.
– L’Oréal Paris Eyebrow Artiste Plump in 04/dark. During my search for the ultimate brow product I picked up this little gem and have been so happy with it that I think I will stay with it for a while. It’s a great everyday product when you don’t have time to sculpt your brows to within an inch of their lives. It colours, shapes and holds your brows and can be applied in 30 seconds which is brilliant for my workday make up routine.
– LUSH Dreamwash shower smoothie. When I first tried this I wasn’t convinced as it smells like a face mask and doesn’t lather at all! However it’s great for sensitive skin and left my skin feeling surprisingly soft and smooth, it’s also good to use for shaving my legs. I would definitely buy this again!
– KIKO Milano Rebel Romantic lipstick in ’04 Mild Sangria’. I was blown away by this product because of its highly-pigmented smooth full-coverage one-swipe application. It lasts through eating and drinking most things (burgers excluded!) and stays ages. I need more shades…it’s so hard to resist this! Gaaah!
– WAH London ‘Builders Make the Best Boyfs’ concrete effect nail polish. I love the colour of this polish and I am strangely drawn to the ‘concrete’ effect it gives. I only need one coat for full coverage which gives space to add funky top coats and a clear top coat without having too many coats on my nails. It lasts well too and has currently been on my toes for 2 weeks with no chipping. I can’t wait to try more colours!
– Wentworth Prison. I binge-watched 2 seasons of this Australian drama on Amazon Prime and I am quite traumatised by the fact that season 3 is ‘pay for’ only. I can watch season 3 on catch-up TV here in the UK but only from episode 4! Oh what to do! This is an updated version of the original Prisoner Cell Block H. If you are old enough to remember the late-night episodes of this drama, set in a women’s prison, with people getting bashed and having their hands steamed to death in the laundry press you will love this. If you don’t you will still love it. It’s gritty, it shocked me, it made me angry and it made me cry…it made me want more!
– The Life-Changing Magic of Tidying: a simple effective way to banish clutter forever. This book has been doing the rounds recently…always one for tidying and decluttering, I downloaded this to my Kindle. I realised very quickly that I have been doing it wrong all my life. My penchant for storage solutions is misplaced and my stacking crates that house all my unused stuff are just surplus to requirements. I need to reorganise my life and mind, starting with my clothes…
