KISS Cosmetics Kissticks – swatches and review

kiscoverI’ve had these Kiss Cosmetics mini Kissticks hanging around in my makeup stash for a while and though it was about time I had a look at them in a bit more detail. I purchased three shades: Frisky Fuchsia, Magnetic Melon and First Kiss, so let’s see what they are like…

Hand swatches:Β Swatched on my hand they applied easily. Frisky Fuchsia and Magnetic Orange had an opaque coverage in one to two swipes, First Kiss took a couple more as it was a teeny bit patchy. I instantly liked the two bold colours and hoped they would be as pigmented and creamy on my lips as they were on my hand.

Lip swatches: All of the lipsticks were applied on bare lipsΒ without Β a lip liner.

Magnetic Melon: I love this hot orange colour! πŸ™‚ It’s bright and bold and the application is creamy and moisturising and with a couple of swipes I had a fully opaque coverage. It wore quite well and providing you don’t eat and only drink through a straw it will only need to be re-applied every few hours. Β I had to apply after eating and I got quite a bit smeared on my chin when eating a burger! 😦 I love this colour though and will definitely be adding it to my collection.

First Kiss: I’ll be honest, I am not keen on the colour so I never really expected to like it. On application the coverage was a bit patchy although it did feel moisturising. It was too pale for my liking and it really didn’t wear well needing to be re-applied every hour or so. I think it would benefit from having a lip liner underneath it to make the colour stand out more and to eliminate the patchyness. I will be passing this one on as it’s really not for me. 😦

Frisky Fuchsia: This is my favourite of the three. πŸ™‚ I love the way it applies with creamy one-swipe opaque coverage that rivals much higher-end lipsticks. The colour is a perfect balance of a vibrant bold shade yet totally wearable for day orΒ night. I had to re-apply after eating but this one did not smear itself on my face! This shade is now in my permanent collection and I will be buying the full-sized one when this one runs out. πŸ™‚

The verdict: I love the two bold shades (Frisky Fuchsia and Magnetic Melon) but I’m not keen on the lighter shade (First Kiss). None of them last through eating a meal and they need to be re-applied anywhere from one to four hours, but for the price point I am not expecting miracles. If you want pigmented moisturising lipsticks that will not break the bank and that you are happy to re-apply a few times during the day, then I recommend that you give them a go!
