Tidying my room today I collected up a selection of used up products that were just lying around and threw them all in the bin. ‘A missed blogging opportunity’ I hear you cry! And how right you were. After a little rummage I dragged them all back out, wiped them down (*ahem*) and here they are for your perusal in all their used-up glory!
Bioderma Sensibio H2O micellar water – I use micellar water when I can’t be bothered to walk to the bathroom to take my face off. If I told you I have an en suite would you judge me? 😉 It took off heavy eye makeup in a few swipes with minimal rubbing of my eye area and I was impressed! That being said the hefty price tag will not make me run out and buy a full-sized bottle any time soon, but I do love it.
Eslor Firming Collagen Day Cream – This was an OK moisturiser, no more, no less. I tended to use it as a night cream purely as there was no SPF and it was actually quite rich and bit too greasy under makeup. It smells just like Nivea to the point where I am convinced I have been duped! Lol! It’s not for me and I am kind of glad that I’ve finished it.
First Aid Beauty Facial Radiance Pads – These belong in my ‘holy grail’ of skin care products. I cannot get enough of them. Each pad is wet right down to the last one and they are just brilliant. I use them when I am having a bad skin day to brighten, tone and gently exfoliate my skin. Grab them now whilst they have 15% off as cheap they are not…but soooooo worth it. 🙂
L’Oreal Infallible 24H Matte Foundation (shade 11 Vanilla) – This is another ‘holy grail’ product and one I currently wear every day for work. The coverage is great and when applied with a Beauty Blender gives a flawless finish; the shade range favours pink-toned skins a bit more. I already have backups, this will be in my permanent makeup stash for a while to come!
Maybelline Lash Sensational Lash Multiplying Mascara – I really enjoyed using this mascara after the first couple of weeks. Initially it was a bit wet and got everywhere, but once it had dried out a bit it was fabulous. I liked the curved wand and the plastic bristles. If my mascara collection was not so big I would definitely re-purchase.
Laura Mercier Flawless Skin Face Polish – I don’t often use face scrubs as I feel they are too harsh on my skin, but this polish has fine granules and with a light hand gives a smooth finish without the redness traditional scrubs can leave. Still I prefer the liquid exfoliants I currently use, this was nice but I will not be buying it.
Beaver Professional Hydro Nutritive Shampoo and Beaver Professional Hydro Nutritive Repairing Conditioner – I got these in my recent Birchbox and I absolutely LOVE them! My hair was soft and silky after using them together and smelled sooooo good. I loved them so much that I will be buying the full-sized products ASAP with my Birchbox points (phew!), as to be honest they are a tad pricey for my liking.
Kebelo Clarifying Shampoo – Another Birchbox delux sample, this shampoo is great to use once a month to really strip your hair of product build up leaving your hair soft, shiny and re-freshed. This is going on the re-purchase list. I am going to have the softest silkiest locks EVER!
Rimmel Match Perfection Skin Tone Adapting Concealer (shade Ivory) – I really like this concealer for my crinkly ageing under-eye area. It’s moisturising and does not crease on me. One of my drug store favs and I think I may have a back up already waiting…
LUSH Oatifix Fresh Face Mask – I am afraid to say that I really really don’t like this face mask. I used half of it and threw the other half away. It did nothing for my skin and felt no different to what I imagine smothering my face with a bowl of cold congealed porridge would feel like. On the upside if you get it in your mouth it does not taste unpleasant! I will not be re-purchasing this. 😦
Roger & Gallet Fleur de Figuier eau fraiche – I got this in last year’s You Beauty Discovery advent calendar. Fig-smelling perfume is just plain weird if you ask me…although I do love eating figs! I used it up but it’s not really for me.
Balance Me Radiance Face Oil – This is an amazing facial oil and one that I will definitely re-purchase once I have finished up my current daily one…and the other 2 or 3 that I think might be hanging around…and the backup to my daily one that I recently re-purchased (it was on sale, don’t judge me!)…OK so I won’t be purchasing this anytime soon, but I would love to!
KIKO Super Colour Mascara – As much as I love this brand, and I really do love this brand, I really really REALLY hated this mascara. It was super dry. Kind of like when you’ve kept a mascara for way way too long, like let’s say 2 years, and you think you can still use it because the last time you opened it (12 months ago) it was kind of OK, and you do use it but it just kind of flakes off the wand and all over your face instead. That kind of dry! Don’t buy this, it will make you cry. 😦
Korres Guava Lip Butter – I really liked this to use at night when my lips were super dry. It leaves an awful white sheen which means that you just can’t use it during the day no matter how little of the product you try to apply. It’s only appropriate for night time use (in my humble opinion) but a great product non-the-less. Try the Nivea lip butters if you want a more affordable version of this.
Maybelline Brow Drama Sculpting Brow Mascara (dark brown) – I love a good brow product as much as the next person, however a good brow product this is not. The rather strange dome-shaped brush means that as well as getting the product on your eyebrows, you also get it above and below your eyebrows and on your eyelids! I tried trimming the bristles and cutting the dome off completely to no avail. In the bin it goes!
Merumaya Overnight Recharge Night Cream – This is an amazing product. I used it without expecting miracles and woke up with baby soft, smooth skin that felt hydrated and young! I swear I also woke up 3kg lighter…although that might be wishful thinking! I am definitely buying the full-sized product and I don’t care how many others I have waiting in my stash to be used…which might be quite a few, but as I said, I just don’t care! Yes it’s that good.
Having finished the rest of my room clear up I realise that I have found at least as many if not more empties than featured in this post…I think they may have to wait until next time!
