My descent into Vice (4) with Urban Decay

vice1I stalked this palette right up to its recent release in the UK, at which point I hot-footed it down to my nearest Urban Decay stockist and bought it before it vanished from the shelves and out of my life forever. ‘A bit dramatic for an eyeshadow palette‘…I hear you cry! A totally justified reaction I think! The UD palettes have featured in my life for years…I have lots of them and love to collect them…that is my excuse and I am sticking to it! For me they are one of the best high-end eyeshadow palettes out there and I wait in anticipation to see what they will come up with next. I feel this year I have not been disappointed…again! The outer box is stunning although it is merely a teaser for what is contained inside! I normally throw packaging away immediately but I can’t bear to do this, not just yet. On opening the box this is where things get taken to a whole new level!

I have no words for the palette casing and the makeup bag it is snuggled into. I can’t stop staring at the beautiful colours, designed to resemble an oil slick. The case has a magnetic closure and in the lid there is a massive mirror which I generally don’t use at home but I do when I travel with my UD palettes. There have been mixed reviews so far on the shades this palette contains, but I love them. The shadows are mainly cool-toned with a mix of matte, sheen and shimmer, which all suits me perfectly. They are a lot more colourful than last year’s Vice 3 palette…although I did and still do love that one.

I haven’t tried all the eyeshadows on my eyes yet but what I can say so far about them is that they are creamy and blendable with minimal fall out (except a couple), when compared to previous palettes, and the colours are pigmented and true to the colour in the pan when applied to the eye (with a primer). The brush contained in the palette is actually quite good although I really don’t like double-ended brushes…I mean, how do you store them? So I never end up using it on a regular basis. I will be reviewing this palette maybe with some swatches and looks at a later date. I just couldn’t wait to share this with you. Get this palette before it sells out! You will not regret it.
