The one where I make a little progress…two out of three ain’t bad, right? 😉
Move more: I have been attending a weekly physiotherapy group to help with my recent back problems…so I’m moving more at least once a week! I’ll be honest, my level of fitness is so low that I actually found it quite hard despite the quite basic level of exercise I was being asked to do, but it is definitely already making a difference to the way I move and hold myself, and my back pain is very much under control. I quite fancy doing a regular pilates class; I am on the look out for a gym that has a good programme of classes so I can keep up the good work! Walking is something that I intend to do a bit more of too. I went for a short walk recently to Hardcastle Crags with a friend on a bracingly cold but bright day which definitely blew the cobwebs away and got me inspired to do more.
Spend less: This section needs to be re-titled ‘Spend’. I have been on a bit of a buying frenzy, mainly spurred on by the Christmas lights, amazing selection of palettes and gift sets in the shops and my lack of self control. My Christmas shopping was done in a flash, unfortunately I seem to have bought the vast majority of presents for myself! December & January will see the re-introduction of my spending ban as it’s time to curb my behaviour and get things paid off. I’m getting a little list together for Santa/B’day so I won’t actually feel that ‘deprived’…I use that term sarcastically of course as deprived I am not! I will just have to stay out of the shops, and avoid the Boxing Day sales, and the January sales, and just shops in general, and the internet…! Gaaaaah!
Feel good: I am back on the weight loss wagon and have lost 5% of my body weight so far, which is encouraging me to keep going. I have also drastically reduced my alcohol intake…in fact I’ve only had two alcoholic drinks in the past three months. Both of these combined have definitely made me feel good and I am assured that they come with significant health benefits…who doesn’t want that?! I haven’t set myself any specific targets (on purpose) such as inch loss, weight loss, or a specific outfit to fit into. My main goal is to feel fitter and healthier…which I already do. I have a long way to go, but I think I have made a good start.
I hope you are all doing well out there. I would be nice to hear what other people are doing to try to maintain their physical and mental heath as I am always on the look out for hints, tips and inspiration…feel free to comment below.
