Reflections on my first (almost) 12 months of blogging…

2015reflections

In 2014 blogging was something I knew existed. I knew other people did this but didn’t really know how. In 2015 blogging became something that I did, and my what a learning curve it has been! I started my blogging journey on 4th January 2015, you can read my first ever post here… (PS – I am now 40 and fabulous but still a bit fat!). My blog was originally going to be lifestyle-centered and my posts at that point were focused around weight loss and fitness. I haven’t really been successful with any of this, which really backs up my reasons for scrapping my new year resolutions (see previous post here…). My blog gradually became more beauty focused as, let’s face it, beauty is my one true love and the one thing I can talk about forever! 🙂

Despite blogging since January 2015, it was not until I renamed and redesigned my blog in October 2015 that things really started to click into place and I started to pay way more attention the the look of my blog and my photography, gaining a lot of inspiration from the amazing blogging community (PS – that’s you!).

My 2015 stats: My blog had 6,600 views, I uploaded 548 images, my readers found me through facebook, WordPress.com Reader, twitter, bloglovin & en.gravatar.com and they were from 78 countries in total, most being from the UK with the US & Canada close behind. I have had the pleasure of interacting with other bloggers through my own blog and also by reading and commenting on their posts. It’s a real community of like-minded people and this makes me feel all warm and fuzzy inside.

2015 Awards: My fellow bloggers nominated me for some blogging awards too: the Liebster Award (Jaanethough, Apr 2015), the Dragon’s Loyalty Award (Christy from Glam Necessities, Jul 2015), the Versatile Blogger Award (Alisa Wong, Jun 2015) and the Sisterhood of the World Bloggers Award (Claire from Clarina Beauty, Jul 2015). The fact that people were taking the time to read by blog and interact with me in this way meant so much to me. Thanks guys! 🙂

My top 5 commenters: Dominique from Style Domination, Holly from Closing Winter, Karen from Confetti & Curves, Jaanethough and Sabiscuit. Huge thanks to you all for commenting on my posts! 🙂

My most liked post has been Decluttering the blusher drawer! (April 2015), which still proves to be popular with regular views. I will admit I love blusher…it’s something I still can’t stop buying. People ask me how many shades of pink blusher I really need…I listen to these haters no more! 😉

My most commented on post was It may be foundation, but is it really magic? (Sept 2015). This foundation really seems to divide opinion. Some people love it, while others (like me) really really don’t like it. It was great to read all your comments on this and join in with the discussion.

What’s coming up in 2016? More decluttering, I seriously have to look closely at my nail polish and palette collections and slim them down; project pan, I have so many products that I need to use up and this makes me do it; You Tube (yikes!), I am thinking of doing my monthly favourites and empties in this format to start with; buying a house (or emigrating…mainly to avoid buying a house); unboxings; hauls, tips & tricks…and maybe a series and possibly some collabs! 2016 is going to be great! 🙂

I want to thank each and every one of you who has taken time to read my blogs, comment on them, like them and send me messages through Instagram & Facebook with questions and comments. Thank you also to my mum & sister for reading everything I put out and giving me feedback. It makes me feel all warm and fuzzy inside to know that my hobby is enjoyed by others. I wish you all a safe and healthy 2016 and can’t wait to connect with you over the next 12 months.
