The Charlotte Tilbury Colour Chameleon Smokey Eye Pencils are my new favourite go-to eyeshadow pencils for when I want to look glamorous but I don’t want to spend ages doing it.The kit, containing 5 pencils plus a pencil sharpener, was one of my holiday splurges, but don’t worry I’m not teasing you with a product that you can no longer get your little mitts on…you will be pleased to know that it is still available as a set and also as individual pencils. 🙂 Charlotte Tilbury was new to me in 2015…I know, I know, I must have been hiding under a rock or something…but I am so glad I found her! Now don’t get me wrong, there are definitely some misses in her collection (see my Magic Foundation review here), but today is all about the hit that is the Colour Chameleon smokey eye pencil.
Are they or are they not just a beautiful sight to behold?! But what do I actually think about these eye pencils? Well they have been cleverly designed to suit specific eye colours so if you are not sure what suits you, let Charlotte guide you all the way. Being a rebel at heart I love all of them and don’t take the colour coding too seriously, although my favourite is the one designed for my eye shade, go figure! When you apply these pencils you have to work really really quickly as they dry down in no time and once they are dry they do not budge! I fill in my eyelid with the pencil then use a flat shader brush, the Real Techniques Bold Metals 200 brush is my fav, to blend and smoke out the colour. Once on that’s my eyeshadow done and I don’t need to add another eye colour! They claim a 10 hour wear time and although I have never worn them for that long I quite believe this could be true. Despite not budging they remove very easily with a facial cleansing oil at the end of the night. My fav at the moment is the Body Shop Camomile silky cleansing oil.
There are five shades in the set. One is designed for all eye colours (black) and the rest are designed for specific eye shades. So from top to bottom, here goes…
Mesmerising Mink: This great silver-taupey-mink neutral shade was made for blue eyes. It’s a great day and night shade and looks fabulous if you want to go all out with a bold lip shade in any colour that takes your fancy, of course you can’t go wrong with a classic red. Check out my previous blog post for ideas on the perfect red to wear with this – Ravishing Red Lips: A Review.
Intoxicating Violet: This stunning orchid-magenta-purple was developed for hazel eyes. Purple is one of my favourite eyeshadow shades and this is no exception. Team it with light peachy/coral toned lip gloss for a fabulous look. NYX Butter Gloss in the shade Cherry Cheesecake looks fabulous with this.
Enchanting Indigo: This bluey-grey-tealish shade is for brown eyes and is a truly eye-catching shade. I love to pair it with an orange-toned lipstick. NARS Audacious lipstick in the shade Catherine (a sunny orangey guava) is perfect and makes this eye colour really pop!
Gold Digger: This amazing gilded khaki shade is designed for green eyes and out of all of the pencils is my absolute favourite. I have green eyes and I can verify that this is the perfect colour…Charlotte was right! 🙂 I love this with a hot pink lipstick. I last wore it with NARS satin lip pencil in the shade Yu, a fabulous hot pink.
Bewitching Black: This matte black pencil is great for a smudgy eyeliner look or for adding a bit of definition to the outer part of the eye and is suitable for every eye colour. While I would never wear it all over my eyes on its own, it could be smudged all over the lid and teamed with a super nude lip such as MAC‘s Creme d’Nude.
Have you ever tried any of the Charlotte Tilbury Smokey Eye pencils? I love a good eye pencil…let me know if there are any others both high end and drug store that I absolutely must try!
