I love Urban Decay and I think Gwen Stefani is amazing. So when the two combined I was beyond excited!
I became particularly giddy when I found out that Gwen had chosen the shades herself based on what she likes and what looks good on her. Gwen is a fellow pale-skinned gal so I just knew that the collection would be perfect for me!
The eyeshadow palette was the first off the mark. See my previous post right here. I have been using this regularly since I bought it. Yes I do realise that it is another nude palette and how many more of these do we really want? And I must admit that I did think this…until I got my little paws on it. 🙂 I absolutely love Anaheim in the crease with a mix of Baby & Steady on the lid and Blonde as a subtle brow highlight. Moving to a night time look I like to add Punk into the outer crease with Bathwater as a brow and inner corner highlight. I also love Blackout mainly to help set my liquid or gel eyeliner…it’s super black. The two eyeshadows I do not like are Pop and 1987. 😦 With 1987 it is just not the colour for me. I don’t like gold shadows, but that’s just a personal thing and no reflection on the quality of that shade. With Pop I found that the colour payoff is poor and all I ended up with was chunky glitter all over my face. But I can live with one dud.
And then came the announcement that there would be more…*squeeeeeeeee*! The blush palette was the one I was most looking forward to as I love love LOVE blusher and I just knew that Gwen would pick a great range of shades suitable for my pale skin…she did not disappoint btw. 🙂 This palette is a one-stop-shop palette, one that I would be happy to use every day without needing to turn to any other cheek product, and that is pretty much what I have been doing since I opened it. Lo-Fi is a beautiful matte bronzer shade, Angel gives the most perfect highlight, Cherry and OC have been my go-to day-time shades and Hush and Easy have been perfect for nights out. Literally every eventuality has been covered. I am super happy with the colour pay off and longevity of all of the blushes…this palette is pure perfection for me. 🙂
The lipstick collection consists of 8 shades; a selection of reds, one nude and two pinks. I love a bold lipstick and as soon as I saw Wonderland and Firebird I knew I had to have them. Wonderland is an amazingly flattering bold and vibrant pinky red shade, great for daytime and night time wear. In the bullet Firebird looks like a 1980s blue-toned magenta…but do not be alarmed as on the lips it is the most fabulous bold, bright fuchsia purpley shade that is right at home in 2016. Both lipsticks have serious staying power when paired with their matching lip liners. I have worn both all day was amazed by the even stain that remains on the lips as they wear, even after eating and drinking. I found that a quick top up after eating was all that was needed to last the day! I have never worn them without a lip liner so I can’t comment on how they last like that.
I don’t often purchase matching lip liners as I tend to make do with whatever lip liners I have in my collection, but I though what the heck and added them to my shopping basket! Both of the 24/7 glide-on lip pencils apply beautifully smoothly and they are amazingly pigmented. Firebird is a perfect match for the lipstick…I love this colour so much! Wonderland is a lot pinker than the lipstick although when you apply the lipstick over the top of it the shades blend seamlessly so it’s really no concern. I would also be happy to wear these lip liners alone, they are that good.
So that is my Gwen Stefani collection! 🙂 I can’t wait to try more lipstick and lip liner shades. As far as I am aware this is a limited edition collection, but it really does deserve to be part of the permanent range. A girl can dream…
