I was looking at my little hooves last week thinking ‘wow you need some TLC’! Now I normally do my own foot and toe nail maintenance and I started to psyche myself up to get this done. My little hooves had other ideas though! I like to think they have their own facebook page and sent out a distress call as literally hours later I got an invite from the team at The Mulberry House Beauty Salon inviting me & a friend down to check out the salon and sample a Jessica pedicure* at their super fancy bespoke pedicure station. Me & my little hooves jumped at the chance to get a professional to sort me out. Continue reading
I consider myself a scientist, concerned with fact, not fiction, seeking the evidence-based truth, not anecdotes. And yet time and time again I fall hook, line and sinker for the Korean beauty trend of slapping all manner of grotesque animal products on my face in order to delay the ageing process…and I can’t stop! The problem is that Korean people all seem to have amazing skin and there is nothing more tantalizing to me than the prospect of clear, glowing, youthful skin. Continue reading
I had my hair chopped several months ago and was seeking a product that would give texture and volume to my new shorter choppier do. My hairdresser recommended the L’Oreal Wild Stylers 60s Babe by Techniart Texturizing Spray (*and breathe*) which I bought. In the back of my mind I recalled a product that I had heard about over and over on YouTube, the Oribe Dry Texturizing Spray, so I also bought that! (*In order to review them both for you of course!*) ;-) So let’s compare the 2 products and see which YOU need to buy… Continue reading
Happy new year peeps! To kick off 2017 I though it was time to get myself in order. Not being a fan of the ‘new year, new me’ annual panic, I will forgo the new year resolutions/goal post and instead promise to make more of an effort to share with you what I get up to and make more time to review and recommend excellent products, services and experiences. One such excellent experience I would like to share with you was today at The Little Waxing Co in Wakefield, West Yorkshire. Continue reading
Sometimes I feel I am on a never-ending search for an eye cream that will hydrate my under eyes and stop my foundation & concealer from sinking into my fine (and not so fine!) lines. Browsing around Kiehl’s one day the assistant, after taking one look at my face, thrust this little pot into my hand and pretty much frog-marched me to the till to purchase it! Several months on is this eye cream really worth it? Let’s see… Continue reading
After a tip-off in September from everyone’s favourite beauty mavern Wayne Goss about a new skincare brand in town that was not only cheap and cheerful but effective too, I jumped online and bought myself a few goodies to test out – see my previous blog post here. I purchased 3 products from The Ordinary: Niacinamide 10% + Zinc 1% (£5.00, 30ml); Hyaluronic Acid 2% + B5 (£5.90, 30ml); and Advanced Retinoid 2% (£8.00, 30ml). So now that I have been using them for almost 2 months, what do I think?
I admit I am a sucker for anything limited edition…ANYTHING! That said, when I saw this delicious new NARS Sarah Moon Recurring Dare palette I knew we were destined to be together! After I swatched it, sniffed it (tell me you don’t do this!), walked around the store thinking about it, bought it, took it home and held it like I would never let it go…I had to ask myself…just who IS Sarah Moon? Continue reading
I only paint my nails on weekends and holidays so I don’t profess to be a nail polish aficionado, but when I do paint them I have super high expectations. Now that the Autumn/Winter season is well and truly upon us I went searching for a nail colour that was ‘just right’ and you know what? I think I found it! Continue reading
When I remember to use them I really love face masks! They make my skin feel better and I feel as if I am actively doing something to deal with a particular skin concern. So to help me with my goal of applying a weekly face mask I am (if I remember!) going to take you on that journey with me! So here we go with the first one… Continue reading
Today I washed my makeup brushes!!! I had to sit down afterwards with a cuppa! It’s one of my most hated jobs alongside dyeing my hair which, if I am honest, is the worst thing ever. I wash my brushes roughly once a week…but don’t worry that’s not all the TLC they receive.
