Pseudo-science or the next big thing? Why I can’t help putting gross things on my face!

Pig collagen jelly pack review - Korean skincare

I consider myself a scientist, concerned with fact, not fiction, seeking the evidence-based truth, not anecdotes. And yet time and time again I fall hook, line and sinker for the Korean beauty trend of slapping all manner of grotesque animal products on my face in order to delay the ageing process…and I can’t stop! The problem is that Korean people all seem to have amazing skin and there is nothing more tantalizing to me than the prospect of clear, glowing, youthful skin. Continue reading

The Battle of the Texturizing Sprays: L’Oreal vs Oribe! Who will win?

L'oreal Techniart 60s Babe & Oribe dry texturising sprayI had my hair chopped several months ago and was seeking a product that would give texture and volume to my new shorter choppier do. My hairdresser recommended the L’Oreal Wild Stylers 60s Babe by Techniart Texturizing Spray (*and breathe*) which I bought. In the back of my mind I recalled a product that I had heard about over and over on YouTube, the Oribe Dry Texturizing Spray, so I also bought that! (*In order to review them both for you of course!*) ;-) So let’s compare the 2 products and see which YOU need to buy… Continue reading

The Little Waxing co Wakefield, West Yorkshire

Happy new year peeps! To kick off 2017 I though it was time to get myself in order. One such excellent experience I would like to share with you was today at The Little Waxing Co in Wakefield, West Yorkshire. Continue reading

Is This the Best Eye Cream for Ageing Skin? Kiehl’s Creamy Eye Treatment with Avocado.

Kiehl's Creamy Avocado Eye Treatment

Sometimes I feel I am on a never-ending search for an eye cream that will hydrate my under eyes and stop my foundation & concealer from sinking into my fine (and not so fine!) lines. Browsing around Kiehl’s one day the assistant, after taking one look at my face, thrust this little pot into my hand and pretty much frog-marched me to the till to purchase it! Several months on is this eye cream really worth it? Let’s see…  Continue reading

REVIEW – The Ordinary Skincare: How did it perform? Product update…

The Ordinary Skincare Review - hyaluronic acid, niacinamide, advanced retinoid

After a tip-off in September from everyone’s favourite beauty mavern Wayne Goss about a new skincare brand in town that was not only cheap and cheerful but effective too, I jumped online and bought myself a few goodies to test out – see my previous blog post here. I purchased 3 products from The Ordinary: Niacinamide 10% + Zinc 1% (£5.00, 30ml);  Hyaluronic Acid 2% + B5 (£5.90, 30ml); and Advanced Retinoid 2% (£8.00, 30ml). So now that I have been using them for almost 2 months, what do I think?

First Impressions of The NARS Sarah Moon Recurring Dare Cheek & Lip Palette

NARS Sarah Moon Recurring Dare Palette

I admit I am a sucker for anything limited edition…ANYTHING! That said, when I saw this delicious new NARS Sarah Moon Recurring Dare palette I knew we were destined to be together! After I swatched it, sniffed it (tell me you don’t do this!), walked around the store thinking about it, bought it, took it home and held it like I would never let it go…I had to ask myself…just who IS Sarah Moon? Continue reading

How I keep my makeup brushes clean…

Cleaning my makeup brushes

Today I washed my makeup brushes!!! I had to sit down afterwards with a cuppa! It’s one of my most hated jobs alongside dyeing my hair which, if I am honest, is the worst thing ever. I wash my brushes roughly once a week…but don’t worry that’s not all the TLC they receive.

The Ordinary Skincare – cheap & cheerful but does it do what it says on the tin?

The Ordinary Skincare

Browsing around YouTube recently I happened upon a video by Wayne Goss who introduced me to a company called The Ordinary. They offer skincare solutions at the fraction of the price of more premium brands. As someone who is constantly trying to fight the ageing process and make my skin look as good as it possibly can look I was intrigued. So let’s take a look…

Unboxing – Clinique, The British Beauty Blogger Edit II

Clinique British Beauty Blogger Edit II

Last year Jane Cunningham, AKA British Beauty Blogger, released a Clinique beauty box which I got my little paws on and truth be told, I loved! I reviewed it and thought my work was done…but she’s only gone and done it again! The Clinique British Beauty Blogger Edit II launched recently and then promptly sold out. Although the box itself is no longer available, all the products can be bought individually and there are some stand-out products that really should be checked out!
