Pseudo-science or the next big thing? Why I can’t help putting gross things on my face!

Pig collagen jelly pack review - Korean skincare

I consider myself a scientist, concerned with fact, not fiction, seeking the evidence-based truth, not anecdotes. And yet time and time again I fall hook, line and sinker for the Korean beauty trend of slapping all manner of grotesque animal products on my face in order to delay the ageing process…and I can’t stop! The problem is that Korean people all seem to have amazing skin and there is nothing more tantalizing to me than the prospect of clear, glowing, youthful skin. Continue reading

Is This the Best Eye Cream for Ageing Skin? Kiehl’s Creamy Eye Treatment with Avocado.

Kiehl's Creamy Avocado Eye Treatment

Sometimes I feel I am on a never-ending search for an eye cream that will hydrate my under eyes and stop my foundation & concealer from sinking into my fine (and not so fine!) lines. Browsing around Kiehl’s one day the assistant, after taking one look at my face, thrust this little pot into my hand and pretty much frog-marched me to the till to purchase it! Several months on is this eye cream really worth it? Let’s see…  Continue reading

REVIEW – The Ordinary Skincare: How did it perform? Product update…

The Ordinary Skincare Review - hyaluronic acid, niacinamide, advanced retinoid

After a tip-off in September from everyone’s favourite beauty mavern Wayne Goss about a new skincare brand in town that was not only cheap and cheerful but effective too, I jumped online and bought myself a few goodies to test out – see my previous blog post here. I purchased 3 products from The Ordinary: Niacinamide 10% + Zinc 1% (£5.00, 30ml);  Hyaluronic Acid 2% + B5 (£5.90, 30ml); and Advanced Retinoid 2% (£8.00, 30ml). So now that I have been using them for almost 2 months, what do I think?

Unboxing: The Latest in Beauty Fashion Week 2016 Edit

Latest in Beauty Fashion Week Box 2016

Now you know I love my beauty boxes! One of my favourite subscription-free boxes is from Latest in Beauty and when the Fashion Week 2016 Edit landed for a purse-friendly £20 (plus £3.95 shipping), I just had to snap it up…not least for the fact that I needed (yes needed!) to try the Oribe Dry Texturising Spray! This one amazing product aside, let’s have a look at the rest of the contents… Continue reading

How I keep my makeup brushes clean…

Cleaning my makeup brushes

Today I washed my makeup brushes!!! I had to sit down afterwards with a cuppa! It’s one of my most hated jobs alongside dyeing my hair which, if I am honest, is the worst thing ever. I wash my brushes roughly once a week…but don’t worry that’s not all the TLC they receive.

Unboxing – Clinique, The British Beauty Blogger Edit II

Clinique British Beauty Blogger Edit II

Last year Jane Cunningham, AKA British Beauty Blogger, released a Clinique beauty box which I got my little paws on and truth be told, I loved! I reviewed it and thought my work was done…but she’s only gone and done it again! The Clinique British Beauty Blogger Edit II launched recently and then promptly sold out. Although the box itself is no longer available, all the products can be bought individually and there are some stand-out products that really should be checked out!

Review – Benefit Porefessional vs Make Up For Ever Smoothing Primer

Benefit Porefessional vs Make Up Forever Smoothing Primer

Having large visible pores on my face I am always looking for ways to smooth them over and ultimately hide them from sight. The best primers for this job are the silicone-based ones with Benefit’s Porefessional being at the top of my list for a while now. Excitingly it would seem that there is a new kid on the block from a brand that is becoming easier to get hold of here in the UK, Make Up For Ever. It promises to do the same thing, but does it match up? Let’s see…
